Workshop: Looping and Layering with Ableton Live
Ready to level up your musical creativity? Join our Looping and Layering workshop, designed to help you master Ableton Live and unlock endless possibilities for performance and production. Whether you’re an instrumentalist, vocalist, or producer, this hands-on workshop will introduce you to the essential techniques used by live artists to loop and layer sounds seamlessly.

What You’ll Learn
- The Basics of Looping: Discover how to create loops on the fly, from capturing your instrument or vocals to layering them with precision. You’ll explore techniques used by renowned live performers, making your setup feel like an intuitive extension of your creativity.
- Playing and Looping in Real Time: Learn to build songs live, layer by layer, while improvising and adapting in the moment. We’ll show you how to create and manipulate loops on the go, adding depth and dimension to your music.
- Sample Alteration and Integration: Go beyond basic looping by working with a variety of samples, including your own recordings and everyday noises. From transforming sounds like keys jangling or birds singing into musical elements, to manipulating pre-recorded samples in creative ways, you’ll learn how to make your loops truly unique.
- Using Effects and Automation: Explore how to shape your loops with Ableton’s built-in effects, and automate changes over time for dynamic performances. Whether it’s adding reverb, delay, or a wild distortion, the sky’s the limit for sound experimentation.
Who’s It For?
This workshop is perfect for musicians, producers, and anyone interested in live performance. If you’re curious about how to use looping and layering to create complex, engaging compositions or performances, this is the place for you.
What to Bring

- Optional: Samples or sound recordings you want to work with. We encourage you to bring recordings of everyday noises—like city sounds, kitchen utensils, or even your cat meowing—to experiment with!
