Are you intrigued by the art of ceramic sculpture? Whether you’re somewhat new to pottery or have dabbled in clay before, our handbuilding sculpture workshop is a unique opportunity to delve deeper into this expressive art form. Guided by the talented Solène Chatain, this workshop is an exploration of various handbuilding methods and conception techniques, and the specifics that make ceramic sculpture so fascinating.

Workshop Highlights:

Understanding ceramic sculpture: Discover the characteristics that set ceramic sculpture apart and how to leverage its potential.
Handbuilding Techniques: Learn and practice foundational and advanced handbuilding strategies to bring your ideas to life.
Creative Design and Conception: Explore how to conceive and execute unique designs, reflecting your personal artistic vision.
Special Ceramic Techniques: Get hands-on with handbuilding techniques (slab, carve, coil) learning to address and prevent common issues like cracking.
Inspiration from Nature: Let the stunning surroundings of Powell River fuel your creativity, with short walks and immersion in the natural beauty of the area (optional).

The Stay Experience:

We’ve partnered with a top-rated guesthouse in Powell River to provide comfortable and inspiring accommodations for our group. Besides the workshop, enjoy field trips to local artists’ studios and local hikes on the beach and forest landscapes.

Be part of our first year hosting this enriching experience at introductory rates! We’re excited to grow and evolve with your participation. $485 (includes clay, use of tools, bed at an airbnb super host, field trips, snacks and more!)

Powell River/qathet is conveniently accessible from Vancouver or Victoria, with several flights daily, some landing on the beautiful lake adjacent to the town, offering a scenic start to your artistic retreat.
